Skellefteå has many delightful waterways of varied character and terrain to offer the interested paddler.

Paddling

Skellefteå has a long and exciting coastal area perfect for canoeing and many meandering rivers and creeks. In the river Byske, near the rural village of Åselet you’ll find a spectacular delta landscape and to the south take runs the Bureå watersystem offers a lot of easy and accessible paddling in large lakes and small rivers. On the southwestern corner of the destination lays the area's largest virgin forest, Vitbergen, where you be as close to nature as yopu can be when it glides silently along the small and meandering waterways. But one should not forget the central parts of the River Skellefteå. In the middle of the city you’ll find small island and small gems to explore are for a full day excursion on the water down town.
